Residents' Rights Week 2009

Celebrate Residents' Rights Week 2009
October 4 to 10
The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care invites you to honor residents of long-term care settings by celebrating Residents’ Rights Week this week – October 4-10, 2009.
Residents’ Rights Week is designated each year to highlight residents living in long-term care settings. It is a time to reflect on the importance of the Nursing Home Reform Law of 1987 that promises quality of life and care and rights for each resident.
The 2009 theme was Hear Our Voice – Residents of Long-Term Care Facilities Speak Out About Residents’ Rights. This theme was chosen to remind us that residents’ have a voice and should be included in decision-making in long-term care facilities. Residents from around the country shared their voices with Consumer Voice by sending us what it means to them to have their voices heard! See below for the 2009 Residents’ Voice submissions!
Celebrations and activities took place all over the country! Rallies, parties, training events, and more are being hosted by Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs, Citizen Advocacy Groups and Long-Term Care Facilities. See the packet of materials below that the Consumer Voice developed with suggestions.
