The White House Office of the Press Secretary recently releases a Presidential Proclamation declaring the 45th Anniversary of the signing of Medicare and Medicaid into law. 

On July 30, 1965, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare and Medicaid bill into law and expanded health insurance coverage to our nations most vulnerable populations.  Now, 45 years later, President Obama will, "call upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities that recognize the vital safety net that Medicare and Medicaid provide for millions of Americans."
